Occasion: I was just leaving; my former yoga teacher, just arriving.
Serendipitous event: It wasn't the first time we'd bumped into each other, at the same coffee shop, same time of night, same night of the week, in recent weeks. Unusual in itself. But it was meant to be. Because, after a few seconds of chit-chat (we both needed to get on to the evening's plans, and it was cold outside), my yoga teacher (I'll call her "P") pulled a nice plump macaroon out of a plastic bag and gave it to me.
Gluten free connection, or, the reason you're reading about my trip to the coffee shop: Not only do I love coconut, but who couldn't love the burst of pure gluten free delight that macaroons represent?
But these -- baked by her friend Mary Jane -- were pure bliss. Now, I'm not just saying that. They really were -- Blissful, that is. You see, Mary Jane owns and operates Bliss Gluten Free, and she's a great gal. She volunteered her time -- along with "P" -- to speak to our gluten free group a few years ago. I've tasted several other gluten free items that Mary Jane has whipped up, and they were all totally delicious. Here's the website:
