Our excellent server told us that Duke's actually serves six different varieties of chowder! When I inquired about what Duke's uses in place of the usual wheat flour to thicken the chowder, Duke's thick cookbook and history (published in last few years) was brought to me at the table so that we could thumb through! There is an entire page of gluten free recipes listed in an index at the back!
Another impressive moment: sure, Duke's brings bread to the table; but, for gluten free folks, also provides the yummiest chips ever, and a green tomatillo-like salsa to boot!
When we left, the recipe for the gluten free chowder was tucked into our paperwork.
Another plus: the carrot cake was also gluten free!
