
Were it not for the French, the meritocracy would still be subsumed by the aristocracy; neither George Washington, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, nor Obama would ever have been elected President, the Internet would not exist, and neither would Starbuck's! What do all these milestones and institutions have in common? They are distinctly American: they only occurred because the Americans won the American Revolution; and, the Americans won in part because of assistance provided by the French at a crucial time.
Now, were it not for the Americans, would there be gluten free food in France? It's a great question; one that I have to research!
Marie Antoinette famously said, "then let them eat cake!" How are the French doing in the gluten free gâteau department?
